SPANKER

Spanker died in March, 2000. He had been well up until only a few days before, when he did not respond to treatment.

Spanker was a skewbald pony about 13 hands high, born in or near 1975.   He enjoyed three years with us after vets had expected only a few weeks.   When he came, he was very thin and had a diagnosed liver disease from ragwort poisoning.  He was put on a blood tonic, and within a few months of that and careful feeding he was looking so well that we let him do some light work and then the games at a small gymkhana.  He and his friend Black Sandy, who had also come out of retirement soon before, had the top score in a pairs competition.   He continued to do light work with small children and was much loved by all.   He was a happy pony and this lively reel is suited to his personally.
