Viking came from a farm when he was three in 1987 with friend Buttons, who died last year. He had been living wild on a hill and was very scared but eventually became one of the best ponies the riding school has ever had. He is retired now and recently changed his affections from his life long love, Kitty, to Tegan. Kitty now is best friends with Shamrock and we are not sure which of the two swapped first or if it was a mutually agreed arrangement. However this year they have changed places again and Kitty is still the love of Viking's lifetime.
