Toran is a Dartmoor pony who arrived as a yearling with his foal friends Brent and Mel in summer 2012, rescued by Mary Tyrer of Dartmoor Ponies and Equines after the annual round-up. Each year the ponies living wild on Dartmoor are rounded up and most are sent to a meat market but charities like Dartmoor Ponies make big efforts to save as many as possible. We were able to buy three that year and they quickly realised humans could be friendly. Toran is now a riding school favourite.
